Somiedo, Asturias 2011
The Brown Bear Foundation (FOP – Fundación Oso Pardo) opened in October 2011 the Interpretation Centre “Somiedo and the Bear”, located in the village Pola de Somiedo (Asturias), right in the heart of the Natural Park of Somiedo, one of the most emblematic natural spaces in the Cantabrian, and an important refuge for brown bears.
The execution of this initiative is part of the project “Actions of rural development in the Cantabrian Mountain Range and the Pyrenees” where the brown bear is a brand and symbol of development.
KOALA set up and designed the AV systems of this peculiar museum. Among the displayed exhibition one of the elements that stands out is an original “Radar” that allows visitors to learn about the life cycle of bears in an educational way, and their importance for the natural environment where they cohabit.
